My favorite season is finally here agaaaaain!

Summer is my favorite. As a kid, I obviously loved the break from school. Long days playing in the back yard and always dragging my feet when my parents said it was time to leave the swimming pool – I loved being outside in the sunshine.

As an adult, I enjoy the magic of every season, but summer is still by far my favorite. Have quite a bit planned for this season. I’ve been wanting to write about this topic for a while and figured it would tie in nicely with this solstice.

There is so much in the world to consume. TV shows, movies, books, blogs, social media posts. Food, drinks, clothes, gear for hobbies. It is endless. My intention this summer is to consume less and create more. I want to spend my long youthful days making experiences for myself rather than consuming material goods. I want to keep up with the weekly blogging and daily drawing. I want to create memories that will last my lifetime.

This is a bit of a catch 22! Everything that is out there to be consumed, was created by someone else! The more art I make, the more “stuff” is out in the world to be consumed. This is where the power of making choices comes in – you get to choose what you consume. Yes, there is a ton of art on Instagram. But does looking at it actually inspire me to take ACTION, or is it just something pretty to look at for 2 seconds before I keep scrolling? My suggestion – unfollow anyone and anything that doesn’t contribute to your highest good. Even my accounts, unfollow as needed! I did this a while ago and it made my life so much easier and more enjoyable. I blow through my feed so quickly now, and it is full of only things that spark joy. Yes, I am telling you to KonMari your social media!

How can you consume less garbage? How can you create an awesome experience for yourself this summer?
