my competition was the last “thing” i really remember doing before COVID took over. i trained hard and consistently nov-feb and had a blast doing it. if i had hit oooone more kg, my total would’ve been in the triple digits. but that’s okay, 99 kg is kind of a cool number, too 😅😂

i was coming up with a ritual and phrase for every time i approached the bar. i tried different breathing patterns, different ways of shaking out my shoulders, different phrases. after thinking about AND feeling into what was most aligned for me, i landed on this phrase…

the book i’m reading (and loving!) is helping me see that “Wild Woman” is such a jarring reminder phrase. both words are absolutely necessary. i’ll have way more to say about this as i continue to devour my new bible

“Graceful Power” is also so jarring, centering, and just empowering for me. both words are absolutely necessary. i learned early on that straight up strength can only get me so far. yeah, i can launch the bar off the ground and into the air, but without discipline or “control,” it’s just an unruly lift. straight up finesse can also only get me so far. yeah, i can hit the perfect positions with a super light PVC pipe, but without some muscle backing it up, that bar ain’t goin’ anywhere

i think this phrase applies in life off the platform, too. being dainty and flowy in and of itself can only get you so far. being strong and stable in and of itself can only get you so far. OMFG IT JUST HIT ME WHILE TYPING THIS – THIS IS THE PERFECT BALANCE, THE PERFECT DANCE, OF MASCULINE AND FEMININE! omg i didn’t even know the terminology at the time! 😭 i need BOTH words TOGETHER. harnessed, focused energy. surrendered strength. doing the work, then letting go and trusting my body!
