I love arguing with myself.
Sometimes I do it so much that I give myself headaches. I think it’s the mark of a great mind to be able to entertain a thought without buying into or believing it. It’s fun and fascinating to examine something from multiple angles and perspectives.
Heard this quote during a guided meditation this morning. I whole-heartedly believe it! Every interaction, every moment, every experience is a stepping stone on the journey to becoming who I am meant to be in this world.
I could also argue, however, that each moment and experience is inherently valuable in and of itself. They aren’t meaningful only because they are leading me to my future; they are meaningful because those little moments ARE my life. Each moment brings its own wisdom and challenges, but all are perfect for me. All are necessary, otherwise they wouldn’t exist! I can enjoy a moment just for the sake of enjoying it.
How can you examine different sides of an idea? How can you appreciate each moment itself, and as a stepping stone in the larger context of your life?
